The Concept of Fairness in Relation to Women Transport Users

This paper discusses the concept of ‘fairness’ in transport, specifically regarding women using public future autonomous vehicle taxis or bicycle sharing. Women generally have varying and complex mobility patterns compared to men suffer disproportionate fairness issues when transport. Different concepts are explored, including: equality opportunity, equity justice (including procedural, social distributional justice). While each these has different implications for it is also recognized that principles should apply all people (regardless sex, gender other characteristics). Analysis forms mobility, as represented by vehicles sharing, illustrate a variety specific issues. Factors such safety security, cost, physical design infrastructure vehicles, characteristics low-income childcare responsibilities arise case.
